Xtopia Video Online: Virtual Goods and Social Communities

filed under: the offline world — Martin @ 7:46 pm

Microsoft published the presentations from the Xtopia conference as online videos today. Here is the online video from my presentation about making money with virtual goods in social communities:

The introduction is by Carsten Rudolph, head of the “Unternimm was”. initiative of Microsoft. “Unternimm was.” supports startups not only in a technical way, what most people would expect, but also in business development. So thanks Carsten for your support!

Virtuelle Güter – Reale Gewinne

filed under: the offline world — Martin @ 1:18 pm

For our German readers: here is the abstract for my presentation at the Webinale 09 conference:

The conference takes place in Berlin during May, 25 until 27.

Startup Lounge

filed under: the offline world — Martin @ 8:49 pm

I’m in Berlin – once again. This time I attended a workshop from the VDI (yesterday; it was great!) and today I visited the Startup Lounge. I’m a little bit disappointed: there were just six or so investors, mainly venture capital companies, but no business angels. The sessions weren’t exciting either. However, there was one session that was inspiring and very entertaining. Titus, the sixty year old founder and head of Titus, a famous Skater company, told his life story. It was very encouraging.

Here is a picture of me at the Startup Lounge together with Stephan from sofatutor, taken by Alexander from Deutsche Startups:

Have a good time!

Pitching at the Pitch Camp x.0

filed under: business is an evolving success — Martin @ 11:45 am

Another great event I attend will be the Pitch Camp x.0 at the Web 2.0 Expo in Berlin next Tuesday. Reshma Sohoni, CEO of SeedCamp, will coach me how to successfully present our business idea to investors and customers. I’m very excited about this event, because at the evening there will be a competition between the participants.

Wish me luck dear friends and have a good time!

PS: Thanks for inviting me! It’s a great pleasure to me!

Call for Abstracts – webinale and Startup Day 2009

filed under: the offline world — Martin @ 2:01 pm

The webinale and the Startup Day 2008 was a great success for all participants. So I’m very happy to announce that the webinale and the Startup Day will take place also in 2009 and this time in the heart of Berlin: at Alexanderplatz! The date is 25. until 27. May 2009. As a member of the advisory board I like to invite all readers to actively participate in the composition of these three days. We like to invite:

  • artists that present their art at the webinale
  • experts on web technologies and trends that share their expertise with the participants
  • investors that join the evening party and meet with founders
  • companies that sponsor the webinale and/or the Startup Day
  • entrepreneurs that share their experience with founders
  • and of course developers, designers and founders that want to learn from those.

Please send me a short abstract and spread the message! Thank you and have a good time!

Presentation at the Facebook Developer Garage

filed under: the offline world — Martin @ 10:00 am

Nico Lumma which is responsible for the Facebook Developer Garage here in Germany told me yesterday at the Community Summit that we as SnipClip are invited to present at the Garage. The next Garage will take place this time in Berlin at the 20th October. The talk will be about SnipClip, of course, but also but virtual goods in social networks in general and in Facebook in special. My question to you, my dear readers, is: should we present more technical information or more business-related information? Please, tell me, if you are participating!

And have a good time!

Martin
