Call for Abstracts – webinale and Startup Day 2009

filed under: the offline world — Martin @ 2:01 pm

The webinale and the Startup Day 2008 was a great success for all participants. So I’m very happy to announce that the webinale and the Startup Day will take place also in 2009 and this time in the heart of Berlin: at Alexanderplatz! The date is 25. until 27. May 2009. As a member of the advisory board I like to invite all readers to actively participate in the composition of these three days. We like to invite:

  • artists that present their art at the webinale
  • experts on web technologies and trends that share their expertise with the participants
  • investors that join the evening party and meet with founders
  • companies that sponsor the webinale and/or the Startup Day
  • entrepreneurs that share their experience with founders
  • and of course developers, designers and founders that want to learn from those.

Please send me a short abstract and spread the message! Thank you and have a good time!

Short report from the Startup-Day at the Webinale conference

filed under: the offline world — Martin @ 10:47 pm

Thanks again to all participants, speakers and organizers of the Startup-Day! It was a great event! We had about 40 to 50 listeners. The feedback was primarily positive and the founders joined actively the conversations and discussions.

Have a good time!

Update: Startup-Day sessions

filed under: life, the universe and everything — Martin @ 8:01 am

Matthew and Mark had to cancel their sessions at the Startup-Day. Christoph Janz and André Ballay spontaneously decided to join the Startup-Day speakers team. Welcome Christoph and André!

Christoph Janz is the (co-)founder of DealPilot.com, which he sold to Bertelsmann, and of Pageflakes, which he sold to MySpace-founder Brad Greenspan last month. His session is titled “Monetarisierung im Web 2.0″. He worked over ten years in the web industry, so I’m looking forward to learn from his insights, especially from his experiences in oversea. Btw: he is also an investor looking for the next big thing, so talk to him!

André Ballay is working at the 24 IP Law group. I don’t know André personally, yet. Robert Harrison, our patent lawyer, recommended him to us and Robert is a really smart person (I pitched him our business idea in the three minutes and he summarized it in three sentences; maybe he should do the pitching for us). André Ballay will inform us about intellectual property: copyrights, patents and brands. These are important issues, especially in the web industry, so we are happy to cover this topic as well at the Startup-Day.

I’m looking to meet you in Karlsruhe! Until then, have a good time!

Start up the day with the Startup-Day

filed under: life, the universe and everything — Martin @ 1:12 am

The Startup-Day is an exciting event at the webinale conference ’08 in Germany, Karlsruhe:

webinale ‘08

The webinale is the holistic web conference in Germany: it covers business and technology. For example there is one special day called the Startup-Day for internet startups.

The Magnificent Seven will talk about

  • how to manage a web 2.0 startup
  • how to get money from investors
  • how to convince the High-Tech Gründerfonds
  • how to avoid common pitfalls
  • how to scale a startup team
  • how to build social prototypes
  • how to become a cybernetic entrepreneur

My job is one of a nanny: I’ll care about the founders and the investors. Yup, you are also invited, dear business angels and venture capitalists! So take chance and contact me. And have a good time!
